The Code Manager has received twelve independent applications from similar types of “Energy Consultant” organisations, who want access to Gas (and sometimes also Electricity) data through an API, to enable them to provide energy advice to consumers, to help them save money and to support them with their Carbon Net Zero plans. Since their focus is generally on understanding consumption data, which is only available from the Gas Enquiry Service (GES), the request for electricity consumption data will be considered separately, following the implementation of Marketwide Half Hourly Settlement (MHHS). In the meantime, many of these organisations already purchase electricity data directly from Electralink. These organisations primarily work with non-domestic consumers, however some also cover domestic properties. All will have the consumer’s consent to access the consumption data. The Code Manager has been working with all these organisations and with the GES Provider to determine which Data Items are required and for what purpose.
