REC Portal Solution to R0224
Summary
As part of R0224, the technical solution creates a CSS replica (read-only) database view that can be used by RECCo and the REC Code Manager to generate reports on demand for market participants. For users to be able to access this database and request generation of the appropriate reports, this change is seeking to develop that front end portal capability to manage user’s requests and allow for completed reports to be downloaded via the REC Portal.

REC Portal Solution to R0224
As part of R0224, the technical solution creates a CSS replica (read-only) database view that can be used by RECCo and the REC Code Manager to generate reports on demand for market participants. For users to be able to access this database and request generation of the appropriate reports, this change is seeking to develop that front end portal capability to manage user’s requests and allow for completed reports to be downloaded via the REC Portal. In addition, this change looks to implement a PowerBI instance which will be connected to the CSS Replica database to allow RECCo and the REC Code Manager to generate said reports. This will allow users to request, track and download these reports from the REC Portal directly.
The current process for the raising of report queries in the CSS is very expensive and time consuming, discouraging Market Participants from requesting them. This Issue seeks to make the process for requesting and generating reports more agile and readily available.
Currently, users have to utilise the REC Change Process to request new CSS reports. this can take a long time and it can be costly. This change will make these reports more agile and available. For example, R0115 sought to make a reporting change. This CR ended up taking 1 year and 6 months to be implemented and led to a total cost of £126,307.04. This example clearly highlights the importance of more efficient reporting within CSS.
R0224 #8211 Agile Reporting within CSS. The end-to-end technical solution to R0224 is being split into two, with this CP enabling the front-end REC Portal changes for users requests and a back end PowerBI Solution to connect to the CSS Replica database. The technical solution to facilitate and implement the CSS Replica database will continue under R0224. It is expected that the volume of requests for reports through the CSS will increase once this solution is implemented. This is because the implementation of R0224 will be the first time that custom reports will be offered with a fast turnaround time. Users who would have previously benefitted from a report but could not wait the lengthy amount of time it took to generate will now be able to request reports readily, meaning that volume should increase.
