Change details

Aligning electricity and gas timescale requirements for sharing Meter Technical Detail information
The current timescales for the MEM to send electricity Meter Technical Details to the Supplier via the D0149 and D0150 data flows are 10 Working Days, but the equivalent for gas is 2 Working Days. This change proposes that the required timescale for the electricity Meter Technical Details to be sent to the Supplier from the MEM should be shortened to 2 Working Days to align with the timescales for gas.
Since the introduction of Faster Switching, customers can expect a switch to go through as soon as the next working day. Currently allowing a 2 week period (10 working days) for the electricity Meter Technical Details to be sent from the MEM to the supplier is too slow and is contributing to a poor customer experience. The majority of MEMs offer both gas and electricity services. Therefore, it is important that both gas and electricity meter exchange details are updated as soon as possible following a change of supplier or a meter exchange. Aligning the timescale requirements across both fuels will improve consistency across the fuels and improve the customer experience . The current gap of 2 Working Days for gas compared with 10 Working Days for electricity has negative customer impacts, driving complaints.
Make appropriate changes to the text in REC Schedule 14: Metering Operations, so that the MEM has 2 Working Days to send the electricity Meter Technical Details (the D0149 and D0150) rather than 10 Working Days.
